Project Collections

Project Collections is a feature that allows organizations to create a hierarchy of folders that can help them organize their projects at a myriad of levels. Collections themselves are not folders - meaning, you cannot place things directly into them; instead, they visually represent a level of metadata that labels a group of projects and provides an easy path to get to that project. For example, if you have a project named “analysis1” and you want to organize this project under 3 levels of hierarchy, you can create a parent at the top named “Therapeutic-Area”, and level under that named “Drug-ID-01”, and a level under that called “STUDY-01”. Thus, the 3 levels of collections metadata would be Therapeutic-Area > Drug-ID-01 > Study-01 > analysis1.

Let’s see what that looks like in JuliaHub’s web interface:

Collections

As you can see the 3 levels of metadata help provide a level of organization to the projects that are labeled as “analysis1” and analysis2”. You can tell that an item is a project by the icon Folder.

If it does not have that icon, it is a collection layer.

Short Tutorial:

Note: Currently, you must be an administrator of the organization to use Project Collections.

To begin, let’s navigate to the left hand panel that says “Admin”. From there, select “Project Collections”.

Collections

You will see a page that looks like this (note, it may not have any collections to start):

Collections

Now, click on the “Create collection” button on the top right.

That will bring up a window that allows you to name the collection. Here, I’ve named it “Top-Layer”:

Collections

Hit Create

Now you will see the collection has been added:

Collections

Next, if you’d like to continue, click on the three dots to the right of the collection and you’ll see various options:

Collections

What you can choose to do next:

  • You can create another collection as a sub-level of this collection.
  • You can assign a project to this level of the collection (assuming you have projects created).
  • You can rename the collection.
  • You can delete the collection.

Note: you must have administrator access to take these actions.

Once you are satisfied with the collection levels and have added projects, you are done!

Users of the project will be able to see the path of the collection that their project is now.
